Message | Mr Speaker We stand against this bill. Pornography is not harmful and it's ineffective trying to ban the viewing of something which is rightly so easily accessible. It just wastes government funds. |

Message | Mr. Speaker, We do not think the PP have adequately researched the negative effects pornography can have, especially on children and adolescents. Many of those who have come out the other end of pornography addiction have offered moving and disturbing testimonies, describing how pornography addiction has cost them money, cost them jobs, interfered with their lives and made it very difficult for them to form a strong relationship with their partners. Some pornography addicts are so focussed on pornography they are virtually incapable of having sex with an actual real person. We accept pornography is not always harmful, and we accept it would not be right to impose draconian restrictions. But we are asking that we should at least protect children and adolescents from porn. Mikelis Skriveris Leader of the Liberālā Savienība |

Message | Mr Speaker By your logic, then surely we should ban pornography from everyone! Whilst we're at it, lets also ban cars because some people are run over by them, or ban peanuts as some people are allergic to them. |

Message | Mr. Speaker, No, we do not propose banning pornography - that would be illiberal and probably counter-productive. But like cars, pornography should be regulated, to limit the harm it causes. In particular, we are proposing here that children should be protected. Are the PP really in favour of allowing 9 years olds to purchase and access hardcore pornography? Do they think that it is a healthy way of encouraging boys to form an appropriate attitude towards the opposite gender and towards sex? Do they think this will do anything to alleviate the intense pressure on increasingly young girls to dress and act in a sexualised way? We are puzzled, Mr. Speaker, that the so-called "Progressives" see refugees as such a threat, and yet they see nothing wrong with giving hardcore pornography to kids. How progressive an attitude is that? Mikelis Skriveris Leader of the Liberālā Savienība |

Message | Mr Speaker Pornography causes no harm! It is about time the world opened up socially. If children learn that pornography is not realistic then that could actually be advantageous. We would also like to remind the Liberal Union that it is a low shot to bring up other bills in this one! But if you really would like us to address the issue, then we shall. We do not see refugees as a "threat" as you so elegantly put it, but we acknowledge that allowing unlimited amounts into our nation will drain our resources and take up unnecessary space! Dolgavas may be one of the largest nations in land area, but even we have a limit. Plus as addressed on the refugee bill, if we allow any refugee in for any reason, then that could mean that some possible terrorists would make up an excuse to come to our nation and get a free pass here! |

Message | Mr. Speaker, The PP spokesperson is quite correct that it is good to learn that pornography is not an entirely realistic representation of human sexual and personal relations. What he doesn't seem to understand, though, is that it takes a certain level of maturity and experience of life in order to appreciate that. Does he honestly think, say, that a 7 year old boy being shown pornography is going to have the maturity to understand that pornographic material for what it really is? As for the comments on refugees, it is disappointing to see that let again, the so-called "Progressives" are playing into the neo-fascist National Front's agenda, painting refugees as bogus asylum seekers and terrorists. Come on, Progressives! Surely you can do better than this! Mikelis Skriveris Leader of the Liberālā Savienība |
