Bill: Compromise Defence Industries Bill

Details

Submitted by[?]: Telamon Social Democratic Party

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: January 2173

Description[?]:

In the interest of finding issues on which constructive compromise can be found, we propose some legislation. We also wish to point out, that our own reluctance to some compromises does not constitute a hostility towards compromise per se as there are many ways of compromising. We also would like to emphasise, that compromise relates not only to parties finding a middle ground on some specific issues, but also finding a middle ground on a combination of issues, where everyone gets something and has to give in on something.

In this specific case we do not demand full nationalization of defence industries but merely that state controls SOME defence industries.

MessageI could only agree to this and other bills like it if the private sector was allowed to provide education and healthcare etc. Then that to me would constitute a compromise

MessagePrivate clinics are allowed. To us that constitutes allowing private sector to provide healthcare.
Private universities are allowed. To us that constitutes allowing private sector to provide education.
As for the etc. part we wish to remark that for example forestry is mixed between public and private sector and private post offices are allowed, both public and private television and radio are allowed. We find it hard to see how the current situation would represent an overemphasis of the role of the state.

MessageMy sincere apologies. I wrote what i did late last night and wasn't really paying much attention. In reference to education, I had forgotten that private universities were allowed, but i was refering specifically to schools and nurseries (although on the latter i see that you have made a proposal on that). I also did not mean health, i meant energy (that was what i was actually thinking of). Certainly a start on compromise has been made and my apologies if i appeared to be shifting the goal posts, which i am not!!

Random fact: Moderation will not approve a Cultural Protocol request within the first 48 hours of it being requested. This is in order to give other players a chance to query the proposed changes, if they wish to do so. Moderation may be approached for advice on a proposed change, but any advice proffered should always be understood under the provisio that no final decision will be made until at least 48 hours after the request has been formally submitted for approval.
