Message | M. Speaker, The LPA support keeping prostitution as a legal and recognised profession. Putting restrictions on or criminalising prostitution is dangerous both for the prostitute and the client. It prevents both groups of people from seeking medical advice regarding sexually transmitted diseases out of fear of being found out and arrested. We will not support this bill. Message | Mr Speaker, We are not actually proposing greater restrictions at this time, only that this practice be brought under the control of the government. At the moment it is entirely unregulated, which I'm sure all can agree is a foolish way to proceed. I would also direct the other parties to the clear mandate we have from the people of this country. They returned us as the largest party largely because of our stated views on issues such as this. I would ask other parties to consider this when voting. Andrew d'Arcy Prime Minister |

Message | Mr. Speaker, we also prefer the current law on this matter. Joe Anders NWL |

Message | M. Speaker, The Prime Minister is quite mistaken. Prostitution is currently a recognised profession, and as such is not completely unregulated as he argues. Susan Gibbs LPA Leader |
