Message | "The UPS, while agreeing that the proposed legislation from the Socialists is inadequate, cannot support the abolition of the 'Chamber Override' of parliamentiary privilege. The current arrangement means that, in instances of clear and harmful liability by deputies, the Chamber can seek to overrule privilege and allow the judicial system to take effect. It is the case that this can only be used where there is consensus, and by no means does this represent the largest party utilizing judicial power - This only overrules immunity, it is up to the judiciary to see justice brought. The status quo, in this case, does not need tampering with." Amika Mills, leader, UPS |

Message | My Speaker, We oppose this as some speech should still be silenced through parliamentary vote. This might keep with the status quo but some forms of speech, such as criminal speech, should be banned. But, parliament members are still allowed to do with criminal speech but should sometimes just be shut up through parliamentary vote. Grey Jaxson |
