Message | Mr. Speaker, Mr. President, Members of the Federal Senate, Ladies and Gentleman of Davostan, My name is Stuart Foster and I am from the Holy Luthori Empire in Artania. I come before you today in hopes of initiating diplomatic relations between our two countries. I believe we have an opportunity to cooperate not only as friendly nations, but as allies. Through good times and bad times, through economic and military means, I see a future for our two great countries. Some of you may approve of this idea, others may be more hesitant. I am here to quell any doubts and ease any fears. I wish to take this process slowly. First, I would like to formally establish diplomatic relations between our two countries by ratifying the Luthori Treaty of Diplomatic Relations (http://classic.particracy.net/viewtreaty.php?treatyid=3221). After that, I believe a free trade agreement between our countries will not only benefit the economies of our nations, but increase our understanding of each other's history, culture, and society. By working together, we can tighten our bonds. Finally, a military alliance or mutual defense pact will mean our nations will commit to the other's defense. This is the third step, but certainly not the last, in becoming allies. With these three points: diplomacy, economy, and military, we can establish a friendship that will surely last for centuries. I thank you for your time. I now believe there is time for a few questions. I yield. The Rt Hon. Stuart Foster Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Holy Luthori Empire |

Message | Mr Speaker, We regret to inform the Luthori representative, but Davostan can't join that treaty. It contains several articles that don't coincide with Davostani law. I also advocate remaining out of treaties that require us to have a certain law without leaving the nation to decide for themselves. We understand the purpose of the laws, but we don't support giving our law making abilities to a foreign power. We yield the floor, Kimmy Hicks, Leader of the Davostan Nationalist Front. |

Message | Mr. Speaker, I am disappointed that the articles in the treaty, which are essential to its existence, prevent Davostan from establishing formal ties. I would never think the two articles would be of any inconvenience, for if a nation does not allow embassies to be built on its soil, there really isn't any point in establishing ties. Well, I hope that this does not prevent Luthori and Davostan from cooperating in the future. In case you ever change your mind, the treaty will always be there. Thank you. The Rt Hon. Stuart Foster Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Holy Luthori Empire |
