| There has been considerable debate about a religion for Likatonia. As such, TOTAL is moving this proposal straight to voting. This is a moderate 'recognition' bill - which TOTAL hopes that most parties can see as a compromise. We beleive that, as large (and growing) part of Likatonia identify as being adherents of the 'Tears of Termani' religion it is only fair that it be recognised. If we can recognise national football clubs, chess clubs, commercial organisations why should we NOT recognise something as important as a national religion ? We ask for the 'Tears of Termani' to be recognised as the official religion of Likatonia. |

Current: There is no official state religion, but the government only allows recognized religions. 'Cults' are persecuted.
Proposed: There is an official state religion, but membership is completely voluntary.

| Message | The AAS sees this as a potential wedge. We are a little anxious that the ToTAL is just uing this as back-door legislation to force a compulsary state-religion... On the other hand.... Absalom ben Adamah seems to be something of a stabilising factor in the ToTAL right now (although his past has been somewhat less sympathetic)... For the time being, the AAS will support VOLUNTARY membership of a state religion. |
