Message | Response to the RLP: But the 'status quo' of which the RLP speaks, is a relatively new invention. For much MORE of Likatonian history, the 'status quo' involved NOT forcing children to sing the national anthem. Also - why is singing the national anthem 'essential'? It is patriotic, and you cannot legitimately FORCE patriotism. All that FORCING children to sing the anthem does, is breed a generation of children that pay lip-service to the anthem. |

Message | It is the teaching of the national anthem which is essential; because it is a part of our proud cultural heritage. Forcing children to sing it is essential only in so much as recitation is an essential part of learning any work of verse or song. |
