Bill: Refugee Regulation Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: Liberal Alliance of Saridan
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: August 3970
Description[?]:
In the light of current circumstances, it is our collective duty to protect Saridani citizens. Without any valid reason, we cannot allow anyone entering the country seeking "refuge", what are their intentions? It's irresponsible. Once again, there are two ends of the spectrum. Firstly our priority should be to ensure the safety and security of our citizens and on the other hand there are in fact people from other countries that desperately flee to seek refuge from their dire circumstances and that they have no other choice at their disposal - only then and there should we welcome them and offer aid where necessary. |
Proposals
Article 1
Proposal[?] to change The national refugee policy.
Old value:: All refugees are welcome, regardless of their reason, and given aid in integrating them into the country.
Current: All refugees are welcome, regardless of their reason, and given aid in integrating them into the country.
Proposed: Only refugees that are victims of extreme circumstances are welcome; they are given integration-aid.

Message | Mr Spreker, Refugees are an important part of Northern Saridani cultural identity and have historically integrated really well with help from the federal and state governments. I personally know quite a few amazing Saridanis that descend from ex refugee families, but have embraced our culture and religion entirely. In fact, I do believe that we should prioritize accepting refugees from safer and more civilized countries rather than those from war-torn territories. The second group often requires expensive mental care and more integration aid as their hardships made them more ideologically radical. On the other hand though, past pro-immigration reforms conducted by the Neo-LU made moving to Saridan legally far easier and thus the refugee law is a potential exploit for those not meeting the very few clearly outlined requirements to move to Saridan without being able to sustain themselves. Other than that, refugees also use up the draconic immigration quota those damned Ultra-Nationalists passed recently, making it much harder for those who are much better qualified to move to our nation. Thta's why we are willing to support this measure if the LSP alters the proposed article to "No refugees are allowed to enter the country.". Alex van Klaus, Shadow Minister of Internal Affairs |
