Message | The AP can hardly be called left, yet we agree: why? Because the right of self-determination is higher than the right of a third party to restrict this. |

Message | Again.. abortion is never to be desired. But who determines 'medical emergency'? There are unfortunate occurances where a woman and others may be best served by a private and discreet abortion. Also again, the key to curbing abortion is NOT to restrict it, but to cut down on the unwanted pregnancies in the first place by better sex education, better access to contraceptives, and more encouragement for teens to use condoms. Nobody -likes- abortion, but it's not our right to restrict it more than necessary. Also, we find it ironic that pro life people are so against abortion but are also against people having easy access to healthcare. Doesn't seem too consistant. |

Message | We see that the CLP continues their tactic of simplifying to demonize opponents. We could respond by saying that nothing unite the right more than the desire to deny women basic rights, but that wouldn't be any more fair, so we'll refrain from it. We aren't going to debate on such terms. We are in favour, and we have explained why in earlier debates. |

Message | Which part is "demonizing"? The part about "unborn"? Or the part about "killing"? A child in the womb is genetically unique, with its own body and soul, and utterly dependent on its mother. Women have the right to get pregnant or not. Once they have asserted that right and made that choice, they have a responsibility for the life they carry. To destroy that life, for the convenience of the mother, is reprehensible. |

Message | Your wording implies that leftists parties (a generalization which we find offending), desire to kill the unburn. We want to do it. We lust to do it. The death of a fetus is pleasing to us. That is both wrong and demonizing. I can't imagine that anyone here feel that way. It is sad, when an abortion is carried out. It should not be encouraged. But we, at least, have the courage to make the tough decision to leave the decision to the woman in question, during the first trimester. It is a sad fact, but at times, abortion is neccesary. While still in the first semester, it can not yet be considered a child. It has a parasitic relationship to its mother, and it has yet to develop a sex. But of course, realizing any of the above would hurt the easy rhetoric of the CLP. It's so much easier in a black and white world. |
