MessageWith many of our members having attended public schools and seen the good they do, we are hesitant to eleminate the public school system. While we are a conservative small government party, we believe education is a legitimate duty where the state can and should legitimately offer a public "free" alternative to private schools which are pricey. We acknowledge there is no such thing as truly free but for many people it is better from an economic perspective to pay taxes and send their kid to public school rather than pay high private school tuition.
Furthermore, we are totally against govemrments funding private schools, that goes against the very nature of the idea of a private school.

Message"we believe education is a legitimate duty where the state can and should legitimately offer..." - Does this include a national curriculum?

Private education is the better option, sure there is the downside that the citizen has to pay for it directly, which is why we have the education subsidy grant which allows poorer families and students to actually attend an education.

If a seemingly free alternative is offered, how can the private sector compete? This is the dilemma private schools in this nation face because we have a public and private sector system. This leads to the dilemma that whether it would be profitable enough to start up a private school if the students in the area are just going to go to a "free" version of their school. You understand free market economics more than anyone in the senate, you understand that if a cheaper option is available, the population will more than likely prefer that option even if the product or service is ultimately more worse than a product or service you have to pay more for.

Public education, in my eyes, are worse because they offer less incentive for an attendee to improve their education as there is no personal finances going into the system, leading to parents who have less incentive to expect more from their children or involve themselves in their children's education because they are expecting the school to perform it all, this'll in turn lead to lazier and more uneducated students than private sector students.
