Pontesi's official wiki page: http://particracy.wikia.com/wiki/Pontesi

Pontesi is a very mountainous country with a strong maritime tradition, that at one point had overseas colonies (what is nowadays the countries of Gaduridos and Talmoria). Pontesi is, according to Particracy's officially mandated RP team, a medium developed country – meaning it is neither among the richest not the poorest countries in Terra. In terms of development, it can be compared to real life Turkey, Armenia or other Post-Soviet or Post-Yugoslav states.

The dominant religion of Pontesi is Hosianism, the game's equivalent to Christianity. Hosian Pontesians are split between the Aurorian Patriarchal (Roman Catholic) and the Terran Patriarchal (Russian Orthodox) Churches, based in Selucia and Deltaria respectively.

Other Pontesians follow different forms of paganism. Some Selucians belong to Religio Seluciana (Roman Paganism) and many Brmékai (Barmenians) follow Felinism, though these religions are now considered one and same. Felinism is a cat-centered religion that was once the dominant faith in Barmenia to the south. It has no real IRL equivalent, and was merged with Religio Seluciana some time ago.

Pontesi also has a small Yeudi (Jewish) community due its proximity to Beiteynu, Particracy's equivalent of Israel.

Yeudism: http://particracy.wikia.com/wiki/Yeudism

Pontesi is home to several ethnic groups. Selucians (Particracy's Ancient Romans, from nearby Selucia) established colonies here in ancient times, and have been here since then. The Abuék Pntékai (Jelbic for “High Pontesians”) represents the more Western- and Selucian-influenced part of the Pontean community, essentially meaning Armenians with Anceint Roman influences. The Arev Mardik (“Sun People”) represent the Armenian “core” of the population, while the Pntékai are Armenians with Jelbic (Turkish and Persian) influences. The Brmékai, who mostly live in Pontesi's southern province, are Turkish-Iranian and mostly Jelbic-speaking.

The Jelbic language (from Jelbania, far to the south) is a conlang devised for Particracy that can be hard to gasp for newer players, but is basically meant to represent the game's equivalent of Central Asian peoples, ie Turks, Mongols. At one point n its history, Pontesi was a province of the authoritarian “Empire of the Jelbic Peoples” together with Barmenia, Vanuku and Jelbania.

Pontesian history has at times, but not always been dominated by ethnic and religious conflicts, ans well as conflicts between different noble houses. In general and in line with the Post-Soviet theme, Pontesi can be considered to have a stronger democratic tradition than most Majatran countries (the Majatran continent is essentially Particracy's equivalent of the Middle east9; but not quite as strong as developed liberal democracies such as Hutori or Lodamun.

Random fact: In Culturally Protected nations, it is the responsibility of players to ensure the candidate boxes on their Party Overview screens are filled in with appropriate names. If a player is allotted seats in a Cabinet bill and has not filled in names for the relevant candidate position, then the program will automatically fill in the positions with names which might not necessarily be appropriate for the Cultural Protocols.
