Bill: Protection from Child Pornography Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: Populist Conservative Party
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: June 2175
Description[?]:
We'll try this a third time. Wantuni will NOT become a haven for offshore child porn servers, so this bill empowers the government to investigate such matters, while leaving the internet free to use from most regulation. Please ignore the "illegal filesharing" provision, the game does not allow us to differentiate what we want, which is why we suspect it did not pass last time. |
Proposals
Article 1
Proposal[?] to change Internet regulations.
Old value:: The government has no position on who may use or what is published on the internet.
Current: The government has no position on who may use or what is published on the internet.
Proposed: The government allows anyone to use the internet but the police can run investigations concerning illegal activities conducted by using internet (child abuse, illegal filesharing, ...)

Message | Though we have voted in support of a variation of this bill in the past, we are definately concerned that the Populist Conservative Party's agenda may one day carry beyond child pornography. If the government begins to regulate and control the internet in the obvious interests of protection, what will prevent it in the future from controlling and regulating in subtle, vague interests? This bill is a good provision, but it leads to a darker path. We will vote against. |

Message | Our agenda is merely on banning child pornography from our servers...nothing more. |
Date | 09:17:54, January 21, 2006 CET | From | Red Party | To | Debating the Protection from Child Pornography Act |
Message | If it is only to stop the abuse of our children, the Red Party will vote yes. We must protect the innocent from those who wish to harm them. |
Date | 15:06:22, January 21, 2006 CET | From | Royal Party | To | Debating the Protection from Child Pornography Act |
Message | We support as we has this one up ourself a wile ago. |
Date | 19:16:34, January 21, 2006 CET | From | Federalists Party | To | Debating the Protection from Child Pornography Act |
Message | We support. |
Date | 18:52:20, January 22, 2006 CET | From | Apathetic Sort-of-Federation | To | Debating the Protection from Child Pornography Act |
Message | We will oppose on the principle of protecting these liberties as absolute, and would prefer to see a bill which targets the act of making child pornography, rather than of simply hosting it. There are too many potentials for abuse created such a law. (OOC: But we wouldn't be unduly concerned if this passed. This is more a 'just because' vote than anything.) |
