Bill: Constitutional Linguistic Amendments
Details
Submitted by[?]: Patriotic Socialist Movement
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This bill asks for an amendement to the Constitution. It will require two-thirds of the legislature to vote in favor. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: September 3993
Description[?]:
The ENEL proposes to amend the names of major government institutions for the sake of simplification. The Kalopian and Majatran translations would still remain official - the only practical change would be the removal of translations from the constitution. It would naturally be possible to preserve the official translations through a separate resolution or the like. Furthermore, a change of our nation's name from "Dikaioúcho Dimokratía tis Kalopia-Wantuni (Freehold Republic of Kalopia-Wantuni)" to simply the "Freehold Republic of Kalopia-Wantuni" is desirable. |

Message | OOC; OK I probably went too far with the names but aren't we supposed to prove the names in one of the country's languages? If it's allowed, I support the bill. |

Message | OOC: It's allowed, I double-checked the game rules: "3.1 Whilst the use of non-English languages can be appropriate for nation names, party names, constitutional titles and other variables, English is the official language of communication in the game. All descriptive texts and public communications should be in English or at least appear alongside a full English translation." So like I suggested above, we could just create a resolution with the translations, then leave it open for new players to see later. Some countries have resolutions with common phrases and words in the country's native language. But this is something we can decide later, I guess. |

Message | OOC: OK, I support the bill fully. I don't think there's a need to create a bill for translations since all our major languages can be translated easily on Google Translate and such other online translators. Those countries have either dead languages or conlang which are difficult to find online translations for. |

Message | OOC: Yes, I agree. I'll put this to a vote after the elections, then. |
