| Message | Response to the RWLP: The medical profession could be argued as serving ONE purpose.... that is, to protect 'life'. The question is - which is more important... the QUALITY of a life, or the QUANTITY. A person who has a year left to live, but suffers from a neural disorder that means he will not be able to sleep for that year, because the pain is so great that even morphine does no more than dull it, may 'enjoy' a great deal of QUANTITY of life.... but they are experiencing very little QUALITY. A person who is looking forward to the last stages of a neural disorder that will leave his/her flesh as nothing but an empty shell, slowly 'dying' around a brain that no longer has any control or 'spark'... who is losing their sanity, their personality, and everything that makes them WHO they are.... may 'enjoy' a vast QUANTITY of life, but NO QUALITY. Axis Mundi Anakrousite believes those people should have the choice. They should be allowed to CHOOSE 'quality' over 'quantity'. AMA also believes the government should get the hell out of their last remaining hours, and let them live (or die) as they see fit. |
