Message | *Jeanette Menziwa, Shadow Minister for Education and Culture, Member for Ugwadule Centre* nguSomlomo, This legislation corrects a longstanding oversight in our laws: the denial to artists, poets, writers, and musicians the right to enjoy any measure of profit or any remuneration for their works. While we do not go so far as some members of the Government in our support for strict copyright protections, there is a wide majority of this House that was elected on a platform of protecting the arts. We urge all Members to support the legislation and prevent artists from remaining little more than an arm of the state. |

Message | When copyright law and trademark law are written, the needs of society as a whole should be paramount. A system that stifles innovation through excessively onerous copyright protection is no better than one that disincentives innovation though insufficient protection. The Government's legislation on the matter strikes a more appropriate balance between these two interests. |

Random fact: It is not allowed to call more than 5 elections in 5 game years in a nation. The default sanction for a player persisting in the early election tactic will be a seat reset. |
