Bill: North - South Independence Conference
Details
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: July 2182
Description[?]:
It is clear from previous elections that the northern regions (Hodirak'hi and Xanduley) have vastly different political opinions from the southern regions (Mainulay, Abure, and Dandratur). We feel that these separate entities are completely incompatible with one another. This forum's purpose is to gauge the support and discuss the ramifications of the creation of two sovereign states. |

Message | Kurui will accept this if it comes to this drastic measure and base itself in the North. |

Message | Not going to happen |
Date | 12:08:57, January 22, 2006 CET | From | One Nation Conservative Party | To | Debating the North - South Independence Conference |
Message | It is a ridiculous statement to make that the three southern regions have vastly different views, let me illustrate this. The PFC and THEM gained 44% of the vote in Abure FHP ONCP and Kurui gained 49% PFC and THEM gained 45.9% in Mainulay FHP ONCP and KURUI gained 45.6% PFC and THEM gained 45% in Dandratur FHP ONCP and KURUI gained 47% Therefore the only region where the nationalist vote was higher than the other parties was in Mainulay and even then the nationalists failed to gain over 50% and only got 0.3% more votes. THAT IS NO MANDATE FOR SEPARATION. We are stongly against this unpatriotic resolution. |
Date | 12:29:52, January 22, 2006 CET | From | Union of Duntrekkers | To | Debating the North - South Independence Conference |
Message | I guess it depends upon where you see the ONCP as being as they are slap bang in the middle of the two 'blocks'. However due to the inadequacy of the last census, we are not entirely sure where most Duntrekkers are, thus we can't argue either way at the moment. |
Date | 13:26:44, January 22, 2006 CET | From | One Nation Conservative Party | To | Debating the North - South Independence Conference |
Message | True, the ONCP is situated differently to the other parties but unlike the Nationalists, we don't support separation and therefore no region has voted enough for a party that condones separation in order to supply a mandate. |
Date | 13:29:03, January 22, 2006 CET | From | Union of Duntrekkers | To | Debating the North - South Independence Conference |
Message | Quite, although I still maintain that it is a conservative/liberal split that is being suggested as the Casus Belli. We would also like to point out to the ONCP, that although you have condemned this proposal as unpatriotic, there must be agreat deal of Pontesians whose first loyalty is to their region, rather than to the united Pontesi. |
Date | 15:08:38, January 22, 2006 CET | From | Pnték Znkak Prta 'Bastardry' | To | Debating the North - South Independence Conference |
Message | There is an element of truth in that, especially with the population generally leaning towards Federalism and Devolution. With regards to parties with enough votes, that's going to change very soon with the upcoming election. We should probably not make any drastic assumptions until the results are in. I think this will make the elections very interesting indeed. |
Date | 16:07:34, January 22, 2006 CET | From | One Nation Conservative Party | To | Debating the North - South Independence Conference |
Message | I guess the elections could act as an almost referendum on the issue. |
Date | 16:19:51, January 22, 2006 CET | From | Union of Duntrekkers | To | Debating the North - South Independence Conference |
Message | In what way? Although the degree of centralization is a 'stong' issue in the voters mind, we sincerely doubt it will be an issue that all voters concentrate on at the next election. |
Date | 17:44:26, January 22, 2006 CET | From | Pnték Znkak Prta 'Bastardry' | To | Debating the North - South Independence Conference |
Message | It would certainly be a key issue on the battleground if it we had to do campaigning... wonder how they could add that to the game... |

Message | "In what way? Although the degree of centralization is a 'stong' issue in the voters mind, we sincerely doubt it will be an issue that all voters concentrate on at the next election" Yeah I was role playing. |

Message | I worked these out using the the most extreme three sections in the unitarist/devolutionist sections in the opinions bars in each state. .....................Unitarist....Devolutionist Dandratur......18,3...............52,6 Xanduely........20,9..............36.6 Abure..............20.4...............37,9 Mainuley.........18.1...............55.1 Hodirak'hi........26,4..............23.4 |
Date | 21:08:31, January 22, 2006 CET | From | Pontesi Fascist Coalition | To | Debating the North - South Independence Conference |
Message | We agree, as has been mentioned before, that the election should provide a sounding board for whether the northern regions are different enough in ideology to warrant a division of the state. Naturally, however, we are resistant to splitting the Republic into two separate nations due to possible complications for industry and the undermining of Pontesi culture. |
Date | 22:25:20, January 22, 2006 CET | From | Pnték Znkak Prta 'Bastardry' | To | Debating the North - South Independence Conference |
Message | Two independent nations don't have to turn their backs on one another completely. We could still forge treaties between the nations so that a framework for trade is in place... in a way, it would give both sects of Pontesians more to do and a new diversity. I hadn't thought of that before... |
Date | 23:25:43, January 22, 2006 CET | From | One Nation Conservative Party | To | Debating the North - South Independence Conference |
Message | It could however, lead to segregation and security fences running along the border. |
Date | 00:21:47, January 23, 2006 CET | From | Pnték Znkak Prta 'Bastardry' | To | Debating the North - South Independence Conference |
Message | However, I can attest that it won't. Having spoken to wouter and Wegason I can affirm that it will never be done. The borders have changed with my absolute pummelling in this election anyway and this is effectively closed. |
Date | 23:52:23, January 23, 2006 CET | From | Friedrich Hayek Party | To | Debating the North - South Independence Conference |
Message | I thought as much, good to hear |
Date | 12:17:08, February 03, 2006 CET | From | Georgeonian Centrist Party | To | Debating the North - South Independence Conference |
Message | From our constitution: Article 11: The States The territory of the Republic of Pontesi comprises the Region of Abure, Dandratur, Hodirak'hi, Mainulay and Xanduley. The national territory and the international territorial boundary of the Republic of Pontesi is inviolable. To split the country in two would be to change this, so would require a 2/3 majority, I assume. |
Date | 18:06:05, February 07, 2006 CET | From | Pnték Znkak Prta 'Bastardry' | To | Debating the North - South Independence Conference |
Message | GCP - It's not going to happen anyway. We should all vote against this and condemn it to the dark vaults of volatile dreams. Who are those Kurui idiots anyway? Haven't seen them in a while... ;) |
