Voting deadline: December 4015

Description[?]:

Mitglieder der Volkskammer,

This bill is meant to discuss our international relations with your House. How should the DDR profile be internationally. This Government believe that our current policy is outdated and should be modernized. May be we should help others in need more, stimulate tourism and travelling in general, increase trade etc. The government is interested to hear your views.

Thank you,

Heinrich Klarendorf
Minister of Foreign Affairs

MessageInteresting, you blocked some of these for years.
We agree on Articles 3, 4 and 5. We have been pushing for 3 and 4 for years.
We are against Article 1. Cursory checks appear reasonable.
Article 2 is somewhat problematic. In theory this would allow the uncontrolled influx of millions of people.
Article 6 has its problems, too. We have been pushing for disaster aid for years. But regular foreign aid is a more complex matter. It's historical track record is rather poor and some experts believe that it does more harm than good.
We are however open for discussion on Articles 2 and 6.

MessageIndeed, the SED blocked some proposals in the past. But they were mostly part of a larger bill. Besides, the SED is not in the oppostion anymore which might mean a minor shift in policies (for now).

MessageArt 5 has been removed. No problem at all. BTW, a friendly request to do so would have shown the same result. We wonder why the DZP thought that threatning was necesarry.

MessageA coalition partner that uses blackmail. This kind of behaviour is the reason we don't trust the DZP's leadership.

MessageWith three potentially dangerous Articles and neither arguments brought forward for them nor safeguards in place we cannot support this. Instead we offer a responsible alternative to this reckless policy.
