Bill: OOC: Names,Titles, Flag, etc.

Details

Submitted by[?]: Partei für Fortschritt u. Gerechtigkeit

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: March 4027

Description[?]:

The SED formed not only their own party but the whole nation after the German Democratic Republic (Deutsche Demokratische Republik). This includes the name of the nation as well as several city names, the titles for head of state and head of government, the name of the legislature, the national hymn and motto, and partially the flag.

Given that the GDR was a dictatorship I think this is not really very appropriate unless you want to role-play that particular state. With the SED gone, keeping these names, etc. has no purpose. Therefore I propose to find more neutral alternatives.

I don't feel strongly about this, so I would only make moves in this direction if you agree.

MessageDon't equate the other player with the party. We're all playing here; we are not taking part in a scientific simulation or anything like that. There is no telling to what extent the positions of a political party in the game are the same as the player's. What Berlioz (the player behind the SED) did is 100% legitimate. He wanted to emulate a certain political party in a certain historical state. Why not? That can surely be interesting. And since he played here a long time with no other players, why not mould everything according to this theme? Before I joined here I seriously considered playing an oppressive autocratic party in some nation or join a religious nation and fight for porn, prostitution, and atheism. And most likely will do that at some point. If you were allowed to have more than one party I'd be doing that right now. In fact one of the reasons I chose Dundorf was the fact that it was at the time a one party state with lots of laws to fight for. And the game was certainly much more interesting with Berlioz and his SED. I mean right now most laww are as the PFG and DSP want them with the DZP tipping the scales where we disagree. The only way to get some "action" going would be for the DZP to win a majority for some time, unless another player joins. So let's be clear hate the SED all you want, I do it, too. But don't assume that Berlioz is the SED. IC we're opponents but OOC we are people who play a game together. Who could see that in our Cultural Protocol discussions.
By the way, the whole thread is OOC, no need to mark your comments.

MessageHaha its a force of habit from my RP days! Oh, I can't speak for anyone else but having dealt with him OOC he was always pleasant. IC, he was a pain in the ass. What he did was totally legit, just again, damaging to some of the backstory in-game but again, the DDR did the same thing in modern day East Germany with renaming everything.

You make a great point at the end, Dundorf was always two sides of the spectrum, radical right or radical left. Dundorf got boring very fast when introduced to a generic liberal democracy. Does that mean it has to be one way or the other? Absolutely not. It's really always been on the players to make it interesting because if we take the game at face value, its boring, its just voting and coalitions and thats where the forums come in.

For instance, you have a newspaper located here: http://forum.particracy.net/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=1089
You can post stories about your party, happenings in the nation or things that you guys consensually agree upon to happen be a civil war, political in-fighting, local elections or whatever.

Dundorf is part of the Artanian Union, something I founded years ago, its a hybrid model of the European Union and the Russian-lead Eurasian Union. You guys are all more then welcome to bring up ideas or get involved in RPing there.

You have my country, Dorvik, which if you guys are interested in the pre-game history of the Dundorfian Reich I'll gladly share with you guys and get your input on it but you have Dorvik which is a close ancestral ally of Dundorf. Dundorf is again usually either played as the Third Reich, the German Empire or the DDR. Dorvik is based along the lines of Prussia with some German Empire and Third Reich influences with a semi Weimar Republic political system. We could have some fantastic country-based RP or meetings or whatever really.

MessageAs I said, there are a ton of opportunities for you guys to do internal RP and a nice bunch of opportunities for you to do external/international RP. You guys just have to decide what route that you want to take, I don't want to seem like I'm imposing I've just put a lot of work into the Dundorfian culture and people and want to make sure you guys have whatever you need to be successful!

Random fact: "Kubrk" is a Jelbic word that has the colloquial meaning "old man" or "geezer".

Random quote: "I am strongly in favour of using poisoned gas against uncivilised tribes." - Winston Churchill
