MessageMr. Speaker,

"the seizure of individuals' property without their consent"- This is the definition of THEFT. For example, if a group of thugs decided to grab your wallet and steal your money, we would call it THEFT. If a group of thugs demanded that you would give 65% of your income to them, we would call it THEFT. However when government asks you to hand over 65% of your income and arrest you, fine you and sentence you into prison, the left calls it taxation. This is the definition of Taxation: "that part of the revenues of a state which is obtained by the compulsory dues and charges upon its subjects." This leaves no room for interpretation, it is COMPULSORY, I've no choice, likewise I don't have a choice when robbed. However the left has surrounded the idea of taxation with doctrines of justification.

With this taxation the left says 'social services' must be paid, however this could be done with a far less money. Also it would suggest a quid pro quo, a relationship of justice. However the relationship of this would suggest 'trade'. Taxes cannot be compared to trade however, because trade would mean dues would be paid to a voluntary organization for such services as one expects from membership, but because the choice of withdrawal doesn't exist this isn't trade. In refusing to trade one may deny oneself a profit, but the only alternative to paying taxes is jail.

Taxation isn't for social services, it's for a government that wants to take your rights of property, of labour and suppress her citizens. They take money away from people who earned it square and fair and spend it on something someone couldn't agree with.

Also this tax proposal raises the taxes on the middle class. So R!R cannot say that this is to help the middle class since they are only being disadvantaged here.

Also this would raise an huge surplus, I'm not against surpluses, however this would raise it to an amount that it is a shame we're not spending it.

MessageMr. Speaker,

Our issue with this proposal is the tax hikes for those in the lower tax brackets. A raise of 3% for > 5,000 RUT is too much, but a raise of 8% for > 9,000 RUT is completely unacceptable. Instead, more should be done to tax the rich.
