Status[?]: passed

Voting deadline: March 4023
Description[?]:
Honourable Committee Members We humbly submit Arianna Woodbury, the Founder and former Leader of the Royalist Party of Hutori to be inducted to the Order of the Golden Lion. We would induct for her 30 years of loyal and constant presence and service as a senior Senator for Adelia and indeed being one of the youngest Senators ever elected. Her reconciliation of Vanuku and Hutori and securing an Alliance with Indrala just prior to the out break of the Great Terran War And finally her leadership as Minister of Defence during the War itself, a position she held from the wars start in 3990 to the conclusion of active hostilities in 4007, being consistently relied and reappointed during four different Presidential Administrations. For these above reasons we would honor Arianna Woodbury for her contributions both politically, diplomatically and militarily as a Knight Marshal of the Order of the Golden Lion. |

Message | Mr Speaker, We oppose this, the Speaker is royalist, we give awards to Royalists. We are a Republican country and we should be proud of it. George Johnston FSC Leader |

Message | Mr. Speaker, This recognition is long overdue, and would be supported without hesitation by anyone who had even a basic grasp of their nation's history. Arianna Woodbury was a champion of Hutori, a paragon of our society who defended all citizens -- Republicans and Monarchists alike -- and who never allowed such a petty squabble to get between herself and the real work that needed to be done. Juliet Williams Chair of the DPH |

Message | OoC: incorrect. The Speaker is Henry Reese of the Democratic Party; a staunch Republican. I only control the Speakership in my role as Hutori's Nationmaster |

Message | Mr Speaker, I'd like to repeal my comment. The party believes that the work this lady has done during the war is more than petty squabbles between the left and right or Republican and Royalist of this country and as a party we will be in support of this nomination. George Johnston FSC Leader |

Message | OOC: whenever nominations like this pop up if you wanna know more about the person and what they actually did ask :) rest assured that only five people before Arianna have actually been inducted into the OLG and three of them were Republican Presidents. One was inducted for actually founding the Federal Republic and was supported by the Royalists. Myself and DPH aren't like petty people who only nominate Party stooges lol... if we are nominating someone it's generally for a good bipartisan reason.... and yeah a lot of people wish for that lol to show how parties would be split on certain topics |

Message | OOC: To be fair, there is precedent for splitting votes. We did it back in the 3950's, I believe.. I don't remember why lol.. It was something important.. |

Message | OOC: The very real possibility of going to war as I recall... it was ultimately voted down |

Random quote: "We must show that liberty is not merely one particular value but that it is the source and condition of most moral values. What a free society offers to the individual is much more than what he would be able to do if only he were free. We can therefore not fully appreciate the value of freedom until we know how a society of free men as a whole differs from one in which unfreedom prevails." - Friedrich August Hayek |
