According to the law, noble titles may be bestowed by the head of state and that these titles are hereditary and honorary. This act officially establishes a system, known as the "Honours System", to encourage good citizenship, contributions to Valruzian society, and rewards those who have served Valruzia. Only titles of nobility will be hereditary and remain honorary. No political powers shall be given to the nobility. All other honours are for life. The head of state should only be able to grant a title of nobility or chivalry per the advice of the Cabinet. Hereditary Titles of Nobility (in order of precedence): Duke/Duchess (Ducal Grace) -Reserved for members of cadet branches of the House of Marek Margrave/Margravine (Lord/Lady) -Only one title, reserved for the heir apparent Lord/Lady -Often granted to former high ranking politicians and government officials. Life Peerage (in order of precedence): Voivode (Lord/Lady) -Primarily given to retired military officers Burgrave/Burgravine (Lord/Lady) -Primarily given to former high ranking local politicians Orders of Chivalry (in order of precedence): Order of the Eagle and the Red Stag (All members receive the rank "Knight") -Granted to those who have dedicated their lives to the Fatherland through service Order of Martial Valor (Grand Cross with Star, Commander's Cross, Knight's Cross, Gold Cross, Silver Cross) -Granted to those who have shown extraordinary personal leadership in command and acts of heroism Order of Saint Michael the Watcher (All members receive the rank "Knight") -Granted to those who have had their civil or military merits recognized by the state, in addition to those citizens who have proved themselves to be significant charitable benefactors Order of Saint Thomas the Believer (Knight Grand Cross, Knight Commander, and Knight) -Granted to those who have shown themselves to be particularly virtuous or have displayed immense civil merits |
