Bill: Tokundian Independence

Details

Submitted by[?]: Hosia Demokrata Popola Partio

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: June 4044

Description[?]:

Our Terran Patriarchal brothers and sisters in Cobura, after decades of discrimination and marginalization at the hands of the pagan autocratic monarchy, have risen up against their oppressors and are now demanding their freedom. As Majatra's only democracy and the strongest defender of minority rights on the continent, the Federation has the moral duty to intervene on behalf of those who find themselves persecuted and marginalized. This resolution strongly condemns the anti-Tokundian and anti-Hosian policies of the Kingdom of Cobura and, should it pass, the Federation shall demand the organization of a referendum on the issue of Tokundian independence.

MessageWe wholeheartedly support our working class brothers and sisters in Cobura, but can not support this bill when it is so religious in nature.

MessageDoes the KNL hate the majority religion of the Zardic people to such an extent that it is prepared to abandon persecuted minorities in the South to genocide just because they happen to share the same faith as most of Zardugal? Regardless, if the KNL will not agree to assist the persecuted Hosians of Cobura, the rest of the Hosian world will rise up to their defense.

MessageThe Confederation and the Zardic State are secular, we fully support the rights of minorities and support our brothers and sisters in Cobura but the Zardic State should NOT be playing favorites with religions!

MessageSo are we then to allow the genocide of persecuted minorities in other nations simply because they have the same faith as ourselves, out of some convoluted understanding of impartiality? Moreover, the Central Committee seems to have forgotten that the Zardic State is not secular, as we do in fact have a state religion.

MessageOOC: Somehow I didn't notice that we did in fact have a state religion.

Random fact: Players have a responsibility to differentiate between OOC (out-of-character) and IC (in-character) behaviour, and to make clear when they are communicating in OOC or IC terms. Since Particracy is a role-playing game, IC excesses are generally fine, but OOC attacks are not. However, players must not presume this convention permits them to harass a player with IC remarks that have a clear OOC context.
