I also want to second the comments of the ANC about being united. When I won a seat in the Senedd at the last election for the first time, I didn't think I would be making my first speech in these circumstances, but it shows that anything can happen in politics. Due to years of having a low defence budget, our military has been weakened; not necessarily in numbers, although there are fewer personnel than there used to be, but in training and equipment. When our party tabled the last military report, in 3946, our military was in a strong position due to great investment. When we were in government we saw that our military was considerably smaller than our neighbours, so we invested in our defence. However, it seems that the defence budget has been slashed since then. Therefore, I request that all members of the Senedd vote in favour of our new budget proposal. In it, we have proposed increases to our defence budget. It is thought that a lot of our aircraft are no longer fit for purpose. As you can see, our military is in a quite dire state, however with heavy investment and good, careful, thoughtful planning, we can change that. |

When politicians scheme and lie for their own benefit, a government loses legitimacy.
