MessageMr. Speaker, this proposed procedure will just complicate things and make appeals more bureaucratic and costlier. As this bill states, instead of directly sending the appeal to a higher court, the Justice Ministry will handle the appeals first, which:
1. makes the decision on the appeals more arbitrary and politicized
2. adds another layer of bureaucracy that is costlier both in money and time
3. ultimately slows down our justice system

This bill should fall.

I yield.
