Bill: Workers' Rights and Strike Reform Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: Shuggoth Progressive Party
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: September 2177
Description[?]:
While we are very pro-market and pro-business, we recognize that an Empire is only strong when its workers are productive and happy. This legislation would guarantee that workers have their fundamental rights to strike protected by law. Trade Unions would be free to make their own decisions in regards to striking as well. Since this gives significantly more power to Unions and workers, we are also putting in language allowing the Employers to fire striking workers at will. This will prevent excessive striking. |

Message | 1 and 4 we can agree with, 2 and 3 we cannot. Can you imagine the mayhem it would cause if an entire sector of our economy went on strike? Chaos! Mayhem! Depression! |

Message | An entire sector of the economy is unlikely to go on strike, because this bill would allow the Employers to fire those that did strike and replace them with new workers. When the proposed legislation passes to end mandatory military service, there will be a plenty large labor pool for the Employers to choose from too. |

Message | We oppose all four articles. Imagine the army go on strike without holding a ballot and then the police forces, ambulance and fire brigades all go on sympathy strikes, and then they all get sacked! |

Random fact: Moderation will not accept Cultural Protocol updates which introduce, on a significant scale, cultures which are likely to be insufficiently accessible to players. In particular, for all significant cultures in Particracy, it should be easy for players to access and use online resources to assist with language translation and the generation of character names. Moderation reserves the right to amend Cultural Protocols which are deemed to have introduced significant cultures that are not sufficiently accessible and which are not being actively role-played with. |
