Bill: Pollution Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: United Blobs
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: January 2062
Description[?]:
Thisbill is designed to be a short term measure to guarentee the competitiveness of Hobrazian industry. With the current high regulations companies are forced to divert funds to keeping these regulations from research into reducing pollution. We have to consider that when the economy is finally introduced, unless we close our borders to international trade we will be open to cheap imports and have to guarentee that our industry thrives. Once we are sure of the technological position of our industry, we can then increase pollution controls again without fear of damaging our economy and, more importantly, safe guarding the jobs of our citizens. Our people will not be served well if our industries cannot survive. |

Message | I know this failed before but Hobrazian citizens want it and we want it so we're going to keep on trying. Here's the old bill: http://aiglesrv.no-ip.info:8080/particracy/main/viewbill.php?billid=3554 |

Message | 1) make the proposal itself too 2) I will vote against. Capitalistic industries lobby at the UB to lower the pollution restrictions so they can make more profit. It is a lie that the industry can't work without these pollution restrictions, it is perfectly possible. |

Message | 1) Ooops 2) But wouldn't relaxing pollution levels aid state-owned operations (if we have any)? They would benefit from the reduced regulation meaning they have less bureaucracy to deal with. Also note how I am only relaxing them to give industry the chance to develop to a level at which the extra impact of high regulations is unnoticable. Also remember that this measure would be popular with the moderately 'skeptic' Hobrazian population. |

Message | As we stated last time this came up, though we would prefer strong pollution controls we understand that, at least until we know what our economy is, we should probably only operate limited pollution controls. If we have advanced industry when we get our economy then, by all means, return it to its current position, but if we are stradled with a third world economy, or at least an early industrial one, then we must be ready to allow industry to grow quickly. We support this measure. |

Message | Until I know which economy we have, I reason from the current advanced western eonomy. And that is one of all industries claiming that "wages, taxes and pollution restrictions must go lower to be able to remain existant" while they make huge billions of profit. So for the moment I say no. |
Date | 17:23:54, May 25, 2005 CET | From | Socialist Party | To | Debating the Pollution Act |
Message | We try to convince the people or our ideas and our stance of views, not 'just follow their lead'. We try to lead the population, ever maintaining their support at the while though. (if we haven't got their support we can't lead them). So trough this we do not fully utilize the populist tactic to "at least say what the people wants to be said". |

Message | This may help an economy, however, it sacrifices the health of the people. Therefore, for the good of the people, we will not support this measure. |

Message | As far as I understand it, this would only be a short term measure to guarentee the competitiveness of Hobrazian industry when the economy is introduced, and to allow said industry to prepare for strict regulation. |

Message | That's right - this is only a temporary measure to prevent Hobrazia losing out in the long run. Mind if I use some of that text in the bill desription? |
