MessageMr Speaker,

I have returned from a very frustrating "peace" conference in Indrala.

Not only have the Kalistanis refused our proposal of a DMZ but are now considering moving their own regular troops to the border to replace the paramilitary militias they have there, thus further escalating matters.

They refuse any accord until we carry out unilateral nuclear disarmament, and have urged Indrala to place sanctions upon us for having said weapons (OOC- see below). And, of course, they refuse point blank to return Mr Karl Benn to Baltusia so he can serve his jail sentence.

To add fuel to the fire, it now transpires that Mr Benn fleeing to their country was very much pre-planned. The Kalistanis now admit that Mr Benn was in correspondence with them a full year before his court case sentencing - meaning they had plenty of time to consider their options and must have known they would spark a diplomatic incident.

Mr Speaker, I would ask Congress to debate whether it is within out interests to remain at this peace conference or, with all due respect to our hosts in Indrala, withdraw before any more demands are foisted on us.

Please debate and vote 'yes' to withdraw or 'no' to remain at the conference.

Defence Secretary Colonel Octavius Black.

You will see there is some debate over whether we can actually have nukes or not - I think this would depend on whether we sign up to the global RP accord. Any suggestions on this would be great.

MessageI am tending to agree, Madam President. To update you, just prior to the election I sent a letter to the Chief Counselor of the talks, Zong Lang, explaining my position and now await the outcome of this vote before taking any further action or sending any delegates back to the conference.

Thank you,
Bathsheba Grey
Patriotic Party Leader

OOC - I also ask you to consider the role play accord that was mentioned previously and take a vote on whether this is something we want to sign up to, simply so we know where we stand in any further negotiations.

MessageOk. So the vote is to continue with the talks. Our party and the Conservatives will continue to negotiate on behalf of Baltusia and report back on any crucial information, or if a vote is needed. Thank you.
