Bill: Whaling Reform 4097
Details
Submitted by[?]: Native Likatonian Party (F)
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: April 4098
Description[?]:
Likatonia needs the supplies which whaling brings. We must provide energy and light to our people, and hence we must relax whaling laws for the benefit of our populace. At the same time, common sense calls that we prevent the draining of this precious resource. We therefore propose establishing quotas alongside the acceptance of whale hunting. |
Proposals
Article 1
Proposal[?] to change The government's stance on whaling.
Old value:: Commercial whaling is illegal, but whaling for scientific purposes is allowed.
Current: Commercial whaling is illegal, but whaling for scientific purposes is allowed.
Proposed: Commercial whaling is legal, but the government establishes whaling quotas.

Message | We have far better and less cruel methods of obtaining energy than whale oil. Wind, solar panels, biofuels, nuclear power, hydroelectricity - even fossil fuels are a more realistic solution to our energy problems than whaling. Unless you can make the argument that "blubber nuggets" are vital national resource, I can see no other reason to support this bill. |

Message | I agree with the point of the FDPL. There is no need for whailing. And most kinds are already endangered |

Message | OOC: Sooooo...are we in a 1800's America type nation, or are we not? There doesn't seem to be much agreement among the players about that. Because if we are, wind, solar panels, biofuels, etc., wouldn't even be feasible. |

Random fact: It is the collective responsibility of the players in a nation to ensure all currently binding RP laws are clearly outlined in an OOC reference bill in the "Bills under debate" section of the nation page. Confusion should not be created by displaying only some of the current RP laws or displaying RP laws which are no longer current. |
