Bill: Redistribution Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: Social Democratic Party
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: September 4101
Description[?]:
This act aims to eliminate unfairness at the core of our economic system. Article 1 - Will allow Unions and Employers to agree on the senior managements pay in order to ensure fairness and restrict CEO's and senior Managers over paying themselves. It will ensure pay is linked to effort and productivity. Also the savings made by the salary cap will be re-invested into business efficiency improvements and expanding the workforce, thus lowering unemployment. Article 2 - Whilst stock exchanges are very important to a modern economy we must remember what damage an unregulated stock market can do. We proposed this legislation in order to ensure there is a risk register which must be completed before stock deals of more than $2 million are made. This will protect many area's of the economy from mass inflation and booms and busts in the housing market etc. Article 3 - By encouraging more work ownership and business democratization we would allow workers to make less risky more stable decisions. There is more and more evidence showing that worker controlled businesses such as collective farms and industrial centers are more resistant to economic failure because people who do the work also have a say in the running and distribution of profits. This will not force private business to adopt workers councils simply give them an incentive to allow more democracy within the workplace. We call on all parties to really think about what we are offering. We believe this is the fairest way of distribution and giving our citizens and workforce a voice in our democracy. |

Date | 07:25:13, October 07, 2016 CET | From | Progressive Party | To | Debating the Redistribution Act |
Message | The Progressives find that Article 1 and 3, though honorable in cause, are only going to cause more damage than benefit in the long-term. The Progressives do like Article 2 though. |
Date | 07:27:23, October 07, 2016 CET | From | Progressive Party | To | Debating the Redistribution Act |
Message | In more detail, we believe that Article 1 could be abused by senior management to actually employ wage theft against those at the bottom. We believe that Article 3 would cause employers to mentally dismiss the legitimacy of those councils since they wouldn't have formed purely on the workers' own merits. |

Random fact: In order for a Cabinet bill to pass, more than half of the legislature must vote for it and all of the parties included in the proposed Cabinet must support it. If your nation has a Head of State who is also the Head of Government, then the party controlling this character must also vote for the bill, since the Head of Government is also a member of the Cabinet. If any of these requirements are not met, the bill will not pass. |
