Bill: Retirement Rights Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Democratic Socialists of Endralon

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: May 2058

Description[?]:

The increase in the retirement age from 55 to 60 has forced our older people who have been working hard all their lives to continue on for longer, depriving them of five years of a relaxing retirement. It is also a fact that when people are made to work longer it can have a harmful effect to their health and even take years off their lives. We believe that all working people should be guranteed an early and dignified retirement where they can live off a comfortable state pension and enjoy their lives without having to worry about going to work.

Messagedid you even read the posts I made when i put this into legislature? I explained quite carefully the real life effects of a retirement age .Also this is the second time Ive seen you claim health damage , I demand you present your figures the only ones I can find show that retirement itself tends to cause deterioration and death.

for the benefit of newbies retirement ages arnt about the earliest time you can retire , you can retire pretty much any time after your pension matures and even before with negotiation , however retirement ages are about when your boss can fire you without a second thought . Before retirement reform was enacted thousands of endralonians were being forced out of their jobs for younger cheaper workers whilst they still had the desire to work. I emplore my fellow parties to ignore the rhetoric of all parties and do a little research yourself Im sure you'll see who is correct as to the reality of the situation.

MessageThe retirement age is the age at which people can receive the full state pension and can enjoy a relaxing life without the worry of having to go to work to find a decent income. Although at the moment I can't present specific evidence I have read in a UK newspaper (the Morning Star) that when people are made to retire at 65 instead of 60 it can take years off their lives and there is probably a similar effect between the ages of 55 and 60.

Messagehmm Ill have a look for that information , but I wouldnt be so sure about that effect continuing backwards as for common sense to hold it would have to decrease in severity rapidly through years.

The full state pension you speak of is the exception rather than the rule , most people will not be using a state pension of the type you speak of , many people however will want to work beyond 55 , if Im honest Id like to split this into to bills and introduce a variable retirement age so the worker is never forced to retire before or after it is suitable for them , however I feel an age of 60 presents a good compromise for the moment.
