| Message | We deeply oppose this bill. Genetically modified crops are not inherently more dangerous or unhealthy than heirloom crops. We've been genetic-engineering crops for millennia, giving us the prosperity and abundance we have today. This bill would further an unfounded stigma against GM crops, when the real blame should be placed on the chemicals designed to go on certain GM crops. We should always be concerned about the purpose of a GM crop - especially when it is made to be resistant to toxic pesticides, however there are so many GM crops that have nothing to do with these dangerous practices - such as drought tolerant crops or crops that produce larger yields. Stand by science, history, the consumer, and our economy. |
