Bill: Labour Reform
Details
Submitted by[?]: Gaduridos Communist Party
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: January 4110
Description[?]:
This reform aims to greatly improve some aspects of the labour laws currently in effect. We will divide this reform into four major proposals: 1. Child labour; 2. Daily working hours; 3. Firing striking workers; 4. Minimum wage. 1. This proposal is probably the easiest one to vote favorably. Gaduridos currently allows child labour. And it must be stopped. We believe no more explaining is needed. 2. The current law mandates that trade unions and employers have to negotiate the daily number of working hours, but this could lead to higher and higher working hours, which we cannot allow, simply because if that happens, we would be entering a vicious cycle to destroy the worker's right to spend time however they want. If the Government regulates working hours, the balance between productivity, rest, and leisure will be met. 3. The law says that "employers can fire workers who are deemed to have gone on strike without reasonable reasons." But we must ask ourselves, who determines what those "reasonable reasons" are? The only answer we find acceptable is that the Government must have the final say in that matter, stopping all illegal firing of workers who use their right to strike. 4. In order to promote an improvement in the people's living conditions, it is paramount to establish a national minimum wage. At the moment the Government of Gaduridos does not provide a minimum wage, and it is fundamental to do so. |

Message | Some inteligent guy once said: Between the strong and the weak, between the rich and the poor, between the lord and the slave, it is freedom which oppresses and the law which sets free. So yes, we need to restrict the free market in these issues. |

Message | The extreme worship of the Free-Market by some people is insane, but this bill would only encourage laziness. |

Random fact: By default the head of government is the ultimate authority within a national government. In general terms, heads of government are expected to consult with cabinet colleagues (including those from other parties) before making significant decisions but they remain responsible for government action. |
