Message | Herr Speaker, Although we can respect why this has been proposed, we oppose because we think representation in court is a fundamental right, whether you can afford it or not. We don't believe it is something that one SHOULD have to pay for if they're not on low incomes, and that private representation should merely be an option for those who wish to hire as such. Ken Knochen, Parliamentary Leader of the Opposition |

Message | Herr Knochen, I know that it is a basic right. I don't know how do you understand words "defendant with low incomes", but for me it's a person that doesn't have enough money (and incomes) to live above the poverty line, after paying for the lawyer. We just want to maintain a stable economy, without making people homeless. Ferdinand von Braun (NPdV) - State Chancellor of the Dorvish Republic |

Message | State Chancellor, This proposal would include families on relatively average incomes, having to pay for representation for these families although it will not send them into poverty, will make a large and noticeable dent on their finances. However as we have said we can well understand why your party has proposed this. Paula Fürst, Parliamentary Leader of the Opposition |
