| Marius Steinfels has just anounced that he will be resigning as leader of the TDU and intends to step down as BK as soon as a new one can be appointed. Here is a section of his resignation speech: "I am sorry to those who supported me and still support me, I seem to have great popularity in the nation as a whole but I do not have the support I need within the Bundestag. I have loved beong leader of this party and Bundeskanzler and I am deeply saddended to be leaving these posts. I wihs whoeve my succesor is luck and hope they can follow in the foot steps of Herr Erich Schmidt and once agian make this party great." It remains to be seen who the next leader will be. We will also find out if Konstantin Mader will continue to stand as candidate for President. Many think he will step down after the next election due to age. But all that remains to be seen. Elections will be held for Leader, Deputy Leader, and Presidential Candidate. Former Bundeskanzler Erich Schmidt has announced he wishes to stand for the position of candidate for President. He also says he will be taking an active part in this election. An announcement from the Presdidents office confirms that Herr Mader will not be standing for re-election but intends to serve out the rest of his term fully and with out worrying about re-election. | Message | The first candidate for Leader has announced their intention to run, Lukas Schulz, a new comer to the party who has served as a member of the Bundestag since 4113 and has served as junior minister of prisons since 4116. He has never held a cabinet position though. No body expected him to run and although many who have served with him say he is extremely competent and charismatic it is widely thought that he is unlikely to win although all remains to be seen. |

He consider one of the party veterans and similar to Herr Schmidt and Herr Brandt both of whom he is very close friends with. Bjorn Opperman, deputy leader has resigned from the party and does not intend to run in any future contest stating that his time in politics is over and he does not want to negatively affect the new generation of partisan politics. |
