Details

Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: July 4121
Description[?]:
The Republicans have been shocked to see the national government abandon recklessly the principle so recently gained that citizens of the Republic should be free from fear of torture. We believed, as did the voters, that the Third Way had abandoned its fascist past but this barbaric act proves otherwise. What makes this more scandalous is that while you have rightly and justly implemented protections for POWs against torture you would not apply these same protections to the citizens o our own Republic who must now fear being victims of the torturer's knife. We implore the government to end the vicious practice of torture, that has no place among a society of free people, or forever be branded as tyrants! |
Proposals
Article 1

Message | We agree, and understand that torture is wrong and barbaric. This topic is hotly debated within the party, and many members agree with your statement. However, in the end, we agree that if the lives of the Kanjorian people are at risk, then having to torture an individual to save millions of lives is, unfortunately, necessary. Existential threats will always be a problem, and as you may recall, terrorism was quite a threat to our nation during the Chaos of Kanjor. Unfortunately, the government did not allow this torture, and thousands of lives were lost. In fact, if torture was allowed to receive vital information, it's quite probable the government could have prevented the Civil War from ever being started. We will be voting for this bill, because the party believes that if there's vital information necessary to the survival of our country and our people, then we must find it at all costs. |
