| The Theocratic government of the Ameliorate Republic of Saridan has begun a project of ethnic cleansing and enslavement of the population of their territory, the island of Sint Pietereiland, as the native population of this island does not share the mainlands religion. In addition to the ethnic cleansing the island has been put under martial law, basic civil liberties have been suspended and children are being taken from their parents to be re-educated through hard labour. The people of Kanjor know all too well what it is like to live under tyranny and so we feel it is our moral duty not to stand by. The Security Council is currently debating the matter of intervention and if it is decided that there will be an internaionally sanctioned effort against Saridan the government will ask the Senate to sanction our participation. If the Security Council decides against intervention then the government may ask the Senate to join Kanjor with other free Republics to do whatever it takes to end these crimes against humanity. This bill is not a decleration of war but will allow for the mobilisation of the Kanjoran military so that in the event of war so that we are ready. We also ask for temporary deficit spending on the military so we are preapred in the event of conflict. |
