Bill: Opt-Out Organ Donation 4132

Details

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: October 4132

Description[?]:

Mr Speaker

Something must be done to confront the shortage of organ donors in the Republic. People are dying needlessly thanks to the inaction of this hapless government.

A simple change that will have a dramatic effect wouldl be to introduce an 'opt-out' organ donation system. Those who object will be removed from the register, however, this system would mean every Dorvisch citizen above the age of 18 will be automatically registered.

This will increase the rates of donations, and result in many lives being saved. It's a reasonable measure with appropriate safeguards for conscientious objection.

I commend the proposal to the Staatsrat.

Hermann Gladki
Leader, Sozialistische Zukunftspartei

MessageMr. Speaker,

"this will increase the rates of donations" well years because the law will iMPK ucztę the thievish tendency to assume that every person wanted to sonatę their organs. What in situation when a person cannot let to organ donation on religious grounds and did not manage to state his or her dissaproval for post-mortem organ donation due to the accidental death? This law is irrational, thievish and immoral and therefore DSU will vote against.

Aaron Posse, Staatskanzler der Dorvisch Republik.

MessageMr speaker,
Whilst we accept that something has to be done when it comes to organ shortage we can't support this bill.
It would be such an assault on our civil liberties and the right to peace after death. If one is killed suddenly in an accident, they won't have taken into consideration what there wishes are for their bodies. We shouldn't have our organs ripped out of us without explicit consent.
Thank you.

MessageMr Speaker,

We share the position of the TVPD on this matter, it is indeed an attack on civil liberties, although we can see why your party has proposed this bill.

Random fact: It is the collective responsibility of the players in a nation to ensure all currently binding RP laws are clearly outlined in an OOC reference bill in the "Bills under debate" section of the nation page. Confusion should not be created by displaying only some of the current RP laws or displaying RP laws which are no longer current.
