Message | If we are indeed, as you put it, in a financial crisis, where is the money coming from to pay for free public housing? Are you going to pay with pixie dust? I've noticed the boerestaat party has a lot of socialist ideas, but they are ideas with out a plan or logic. This is the case with all socialists, they think with emotion not with brain. If I may ask you, how will free public housing benefit the economy? It can't, all you are doing is creating leeches that will suck our economy dry, with free housing, welfare benefits etc. It is important that we do not give people the incentive to be poor, lazy, and unemployed, it's important that grown adults support themselves, and not suck on the tit of the state. |

Message | Mr Speaker, Cut the taxes you are stealing from poor and middle income people since you savagely raised their taxes a little while back. Bring back the 10% flat tax Then they can afford their own houses without the interference of your commissars Rev. Geet Verdonk Jr AHU Leader |

Message | To the Alt-Right, check the government proposed taxation and spending plans. A lot of money is being raised that isn't earmarked for spending and could be spent on a variety of government projects to stimulate the economy. Building houses would create jobs in the construction and other associated industries. The government could even create rules that state that public houses can only be built with materials made in Saridan. Our ideas are planned. Due to economic problems and the international boycott of our country that has harmed this nations economy there are a lot of people who through no fault of their own require help. The government, due to its bizarre taxation and spending plans, has an awful lot of extra resources that could be used to help people. Public housing in essence isn't "free" but is typically cheaper than private housing to rent. I am sure the relevant Ministry can work out a set of rent controls to ensure that contributions are made within the means of those renting. We are not creating leeches, the government has created a group of people who need help. Those who lose their jobs are not necessarily lazy, and sometimes those who're unemployed or retired require help. Pieter de Koch |

Message | The Boerestaat Party has completely missed the point as usual. Answer this, why would people who are unemployed be motivated to find work, or pay for their own housing if they can get someone else to pay for it? They won't, free handouts are too easy and lucrative to pass up, you will have more people dropping out of the work force because it's easier to get a hand out, when this happens you will have people who once payed taxes, receiving taxes, it will completely drain the economy. You also mention that government housing would create jobs, the fact is those jobs are temporary, and are government jobs at that. It would be much better if we were creating private sector jobs, as private sector jobs pay much better, and they are not payed by tax dollars, in fact people who work in private sector jobs are likely going to pay tax, this increases government revenue, and eliminates the need for welfare programs. The fact is the road out of poverty is a job, not a welfare hand out. |

Message | You miss the point. The government currently has a massive surplus. That surplus could be used to build houses. Private construction companies could build them, private companies that manufacture carpets and wallpapers could receive contracts to. These companies will have increased revenue, which can be invested in more workers, or it buying more products and the government could stipulate that these products have to be made in Saridan which in turn will benefit other companies, increasing the revenues, allowing them ro employ more workers and so on. Short termist? Only if the government makes it so, the government could contract to build 100,000 houses a year, or whatever level is deemed necessary. Your argument that those who are unemployed may no longer be motivated to work is a fair point and we could apply such libertarian sentiment to everything from education to the military. Good quality subsidised housing is different to free hand outs. If welfare and social protection is applied correctly then it can be used to provide incentives for people to get back to work. Additionally a good community must look after its needy, whether children, the elderly or the sick. A safety next should always be provided so that no one can fall too low in society, and then a ladder should be provided to help people better themselves. Good quality housing built using the governments ridiculous budget surplus provides a secure safety net and a strong ladder for people to help themselves. Social Darwinism has no place in a Hosian community. |

Message | Well, it seems to me you haven't done the maths on this one. If we build 100,000 houses a year like you say, and each house costs an estimated $300,000 to build on average, we are looking at $30 billion a year to build this housing. Now we have a surplus of $68 billion, in three years according to the mathematics I just gave, we will be $22 billion in debt, that's just in three years, imagine in fifteen years what the debt will look like. The fact is you cannot continue to operate at a surplus if you spend like a drunken sailor. |

Message | Seriously? If we have a surplus of 68 Bullion this year, and the budget isn't altered next year then we'all have another surplus next year of a similar figure and likewise the year after. Can you go into a bit more details of how your mathematics works? |
