Bill: Chiesa e del paese
Details
Submitted by[?]: Social Calvinist Unionist Party
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: May 2181
Description[?]:
The PNF believes that Church and State have been woven together for too long. In order to avoid sectarian violence, the government must distance itself from religion. This is not only to keep the country from collapsing into civil war once again, but to protect the rights of minorities. When the government has no hand in religion, then all religions will be able to live out their existances freely. As long as we continue to integrate Church and State, then violence and distrust will infect all layers of society. |

Message | This is tripe. You talk of separating church and state but then propose the government involves itself in the running of state schools and tells people where they can and can't pray. You hypocrite! My proposal to establish all recognised religions was far more progressive. |
Date | 20:35:15, February 04, 2006 CET | From | Covenanters (IA) | To | Debating the Chiesa e del paese |
Message | Where I said state schools I obviously meant church schools. There are no state schools. Supporting disestablishmentarianism will damage the standing of any party in the Christian League. |

Message | I don't like the regulation in article 1 either. But will support the bill to get the government out of the religion business. |

Message | 1 is so that religious schools don't start preaching "DEATH TO <insert group here>!" |

Message | But I thought the SPP supported my idea of multiple established churches, not article 3? |
Date | 00:29:43, February 05, 2006 CET | From | Shuggoth Progressive Party | To | Debating the Chiesa e del paese |
Message | We do PUP, but we have been unable to get the recognised religions enshrined in a new constitution. If we can't have the (two-thirds) constitutional guarantees protecting the freedom of religion of the non-Christians, then we will have to support no recognized religions at all. The state-sponsored genocide must not be repeated. |

Message | Exactly. And where the hell is Seosavists? He is always missing right when we need him... |

Random fact: "OOC", "IC" and "IG" are commonly-used acronyms in Particracy. "OOC" refers to comments, discussions and actions which are out-of-character, meaning they are done player-to-player rather than party-to-party. "IC" refers to in-character interactions (ie. party-to-party). Similarly, "IG" means in-game, although this term may also simply refer to what happens in the actual game interface, as opposed to on the forum or elsewhere. "RP" just means "role-play". |
Random quote: "Capitalism demands the best of every man- his rationality- and rewards him accordingly. It leaves every man free to choose the work he likes, to specialize in it, to trade his product for the products of others, and to go as far on the road of achievement as his ability and ambition will carry him." - Ayn Rand |
