Voting deadline: April 4136

Description[?]:

On the date of the bill proposal, it is one year since the closing of the LWA Inc's factory in Martois. Our country is still prosperous thanks to our hard working people, but we are now starting to feel the effects of the socialist politics that have dominated our country for the last two decades. Thousands of people have been left unemployed in the Martois État thanks to the anti-business policies that are starting to negatively impact this great nation's economy.

Parti de Renevoullement de Kanjor has many criticisms about the economic policy of the government. One important aspect of reform to create a more business friendly economic environment and encourage entreprenaurship is introducing a tax break to businesses. This step will not lead to a budget deficit as the short term loss will not have a great enough impact - but will lead to an increased perception of stability to entreprenaurs and investors.

We are concerned about the debated bill "Corporate tax bill" which suggests a shock increase of taxation on businesses. As it will most likely pass and show the innovative, smart and ambitious entreprenaurs of our country what socialism is about - we want to present to them an alternative. It is up to the people who want to continue the era of prosperity and our nation's entreprenaurs to choose.

Parti de Renevoullement de Kanjor proposes to the members of the Sénate the following corporate tax plan:

MessageHear, hear! Our party has tried to return the tax on corporations to normal levels. While we would like this tax to be closer to 20%, we will still vote in favor of the proposal.

MessageTax cuts are an essential part of the PRK's extensive reform plans, but we believe they need to be done step by step as they need to be financed and spending cuts need to be carefully executed. We believe in a reformist approach.

If we were to directly propose a 20% rate and some of the more socially liberal senators of the left wing parties were to approve this bill and lead to the, although unlikely, scenario of the bill passing - it needs to be financed and the government is as we know not ready for extensive spending cuts. We do not want to risk putting the nation in such a situation.

MessageThe Corporate Tax Bill that we wrote, was to tax International corporations, and businesses still in private hands. All big corporations that operate in Kanjor, that are native to Kanjor, are Government owned. We will oppose this bill, as it will let foreign Corporations take jobs away from our workers, because they are taxed less and can operate.

MessageThe government party is talking about big business, but let us remind the government that not all business is government owned. The last remnants of free market capitalism in our country are luckily not gone (yet). There is a whole private sector of media corporations, private healthcare services (as the prohibition is not into effect yet) and smaller businesses. Further, it does not matter to us where businesses come from - money and economic growth do not have skin color or culture, right?

We are trying hard to understand the argument how jobs are being "taken away from our workers", but we frankly can not succeed. There are workers working in native companies, as well as foreign ones - subject to the same laws. How does it help workers to potentially tax the foreign corporations out of business and go even further as the government wants - by introducing full socialism to all industries so that foreign companies will have no choice but to leave our country leaving thousands unemployed? Is the government against the concepts of a modern, vibrant economy?

MessageGiven our new initiatives in foreign policy, there are talks of a trade treaty, allowing trade between Istailia and Kanjor, we feel that raising the tax rate will assist our economy, and Private Corporations, and small business will be taxed accordingly. with the new taxes in place, we can lower the taxes on the poor and working class. With government projects, that invest back into the community, and government help, job loss will be minimal.

MessageOn behalf of the Finance Ministry I make this statement to the Senate,

The Citizens' Economy Act of 4128 did not take into state ownership all of Kanjoran industry, nor the majority of Kanjoran Industry. At this point the Government of the Republic owns the commanding heights of the economy, this being education services, the majority of healthcare services, electricity production and distribution, mass public transportation, water production and distribution, telecommunications provision, defence industries, a national television and radio station alongside private stations, the national space agency, the postal service, banking institutions large enough to be involved in international finance, a small number of mining and industrial manufacturing concerns but not a majority of either industry, a network or museums and libraries and agricultural production. While this may be a greater involvement then some Senators would like to see in the economy I think we can agree this does not account for a majority of Kanjoran economic activity.

The Economy of Liberty Act, which we see is highly debated in the press, would only extend government ownership to the remaining private healthcare sector.

The majority of the economy of Kanjor is in the hands of co-operatives, voluntary economic associations without government ownership or involvement. They are for all intensive purposes private businesses, but they are controlled and owned by the people who work at them rather than shareholders or a single capitalist. The policies of previous governments have not been to stop Kanjorans from becoming business owning entrepreneurs but to make as many Kanjorans as possible business owning entrepreneurs. To make them all free citizens owning their own workplace rather than being wage labourers. As for the Economy of Liberty Act this would merely extend this atmosphere of freedom to everyone not working for a government enterprise. We would even be open to reducing the tax burden on the cooperatives so long as we would still be able to maintain a balanced budget.

The government is doing its part to help the cooperatives act like good entrepreneurs by opening up international trade with our allies so all citizens may share in the profits.

We would thank the opposition for in future taking a nuanced accurate view of the Republic's economy rather than pretending we are living in a statist nightmare.

MessagePHILIPPE MOREAU'S SPEECH IN FRONT OF THE SOULON MUNICIPAL BUILDING:

"Ms. Finance Minister,
I have recieved the letter from you, which I quoted word for word on social media so that voters can take part of your reasoning. I want to thank you for adressing our arguments and engaging in a debate allowing voters to see contrasts between our policies. We are looking forward continuing engaging in debate with you as it benefits our citizens. I want to take this opportunity to adress your talking points.

You are absolutely correct about the Citizens' Economy Act. Never was it our intent to mislead people as we've said quite the opposite while talking to your coalition partners, the Progressive Socialists - all industries OR businesses are NOT government owned. However, we see no reasonable reason to the government owning such a vast part of our business sector as competition between different corporations is illegalized by monopolies, thus taking away freedom of choice for consumers - thus making it more difficult for prices to go down and taking away incentives for developing the businesses as there is no competition to take into account anyways.

If we move on to currently proposed legislation and away from 4128 however, The Economy of Liberty Act which I am assuming the socialist government will get passed, has two problems: 1) the freedom of choice for healthcare services for our citizens disappears and 2) full socialism is effectively established as the regulations require "All businesses to be run by Democratic Workers' Councils". We have not claimed the government will nationalize all the businesses. But what the government would do is to involve itself in how ALL businesses are run. This would discourage, excuse us if we use ugly words - capitalists, to start businesses run by the model of their choice as it will simply be impossible to do so anymore. This just being one of the aspects of the consistent, anti-business, anti-entreprenaur policies that the government envisions being law of our country, by the way. Giving employees full power and business owners essentially no say, could lead to businesses being more unpredictable as everyone in the council have equal say in important decisions, thus making international business feel uncertaint or unpredictability when co-operating with Canrillaişe businesses. Political democracy is one thing, workplace democracy another - I am sure many working people of our nation are already busy enough with their daily lives, work and their own interests - simply not having the time or even interest, to read on the facts of every single issue of the company they work in. I'm sure everyone wants to vote in the best interest of their workplace, and this is not possible for some in our busy society (or simply, some people are not interested in reading long resolutions to vote on).

As for healthcare, the government taking control of the sector would lead to thousands of employees in private healthcare losing their job, as there is nothing that stops them from already now while still formally legal, declaring their businesses bankrupt. We once again see an issue in freedom of choice effectively being taken away - what is wrong with people choosing who provides the better healthcare, be it the public or private sector? Why extend the already expensive public sector at the cost of
peoples' jobs, happiness and availability of health care services?

Our party is not against co-operatives. We do not care how people choose to run their businesses! We believe everyone should have the freedom to run their businesses as they wish. We believe that capitalists should be able to risk their money and profit off of it. We believe that it is generally good if many of our citizens are entreprenaurs, however there is nothing with current law that stops them from that. The problem with socialism is that it does not take into account that individuals are different. Everyone does not
want to own small parts of their workplace, maybe they are perfectly happy with them working on a private, profit-making clinic and their partner running a small business!

As an entreprenaur myself, I feel that it is unjust that the government wants to involve itself in how my businesses work. You did not create them. You did not risk money. I did! And I should have the right to keep my money, without having a state tell me what to do, and what I am not ALLOWED to do. As I am a law abiding citizen, I'll have to respect the law and unlike many capitalists, I have no interest in starting businesses abroad. That is why I engaged myself in politics. I want to help my country and its bright businessmen and women. Many Canrillaişe citizens want change and we feel let down by the current government.

Thank you."
