Bill: Pension Reform Act of 2181

Details

Submitted by[?]: Uleroth Liberation Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: January 2182

Description[?]:

This bill would establish a compulsory public coffer. For people whose cultures dictate that families take care of the elderly, these folks have the option to opt out of the plan by having their contributions refunded either on a yearly basis or upon retirement with the finances going to a family member to aid in caring for retired people. Other people would contribute to the pension plan during employment and be ensured at least their public pension upon retirement.

MessageI'm in favour. This simply imposes a duty on citizens to look after themselves in their golden years - it is the responsible thing to do.

MessageI would change the name of this bill to

Big Socialist Governement Act

That's what this is: stealing money from taxpayers.

MessageNo, actually, I voted against the change. Then, months later, a bill to make it public again was introduced. I felt it was in the interests of democracy and the electorate to give the new system a chance, so I voted in favour of the status quo so as to give the victors of the private system an opportunity to prove themselves. Enough time has now passed - the experiment has been a failure. Its time to right this injustice.

It is clear you voted PRO the change, isn't it? You even explained why, so your mouse didn't even slip accidentally to the yes button. Yoiur attitude is one fine piece of hypocricy

MessageThanks for the reminder VBS. I had completely forgotten about the cultural tolerance argument that you had made which caused me to change my vote. I have accordingly changed my vote to "no" from "yes".

Random fact: It usually takes up to an hour for election results to generate. During this time, the "Next Election" date is put forward a month, which is confusing. Do not worry! In a short time, the election result will generate and the "Next Election" date will then correct itself.
