Bill: Head of State

Details

Submitted by[?]: Shuggoth Progressive Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This bill asks for an amendement to the Constitution. It will require two-thirds of the legislature to vote in favor. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: March 2186

Description[?]:

See this legislation for background: http://80.237.164.51/particracy/main/viewbill.php?billid=46479

This bill will briefly change how we select our Head of State. (See the LGP comment below dated Feb 14). Each Party may select a candidate for the new HoS. Once the first HoS Election is finalized, I will submit a new bill to revert our constitution back to what it is now (HoS is hereditary). Remember that if you submit a candidate, the monarchy is hereditary, and the person you submit should have a name that is in character with the royal bloodline.

So in other words, political intrigue can choose our next HoS, rather than asking a mod to do it for us on the forums.

MessageIf the third option happens, I'd run a candidate, naturally my candidate would be contraversial. After all, its LGP tradition; cause contraversy, effect progress. Also, party HQ has nothing better to do, and it sure beats organising gurney races, those nursing staff seem to guard them gurneys more closely since we started gurney racing down at party HQ.

MessageSigismund, since we backed him and he was already elected once, but his position was stolen from him.

MessageWe would vote for Sigismund IV Augustus who was indeed duly elected, but let down by his supporters.

MessageWe'd also vote for Sigismund IV Augustus, because he was the elected monarch before the Luthori civil war.

MessageHow do we go about making the change? I tried to amend the constitution to get the new Emperor elected, but you guys voted against it hehe.

MessageWe can change the Emperor's name by passing a bill with a two-thirds majority, not by turning him into a tacky 'President' and being told who has been elected...

MessageI've got to admit, this way is more fun, as it is full of Machiavellian overtones, and gives us a chance to RP an Imperial Court, with various factions vying for the seat.

MessageThere is only one true King and his name is Emporer Haile Sellaissie I (Jah Rastafari) - we will support no other King and as such will support this but oppose efforts to revert to a monarchical system

MessageI told you: we just need a pass a bill naming the new Emperor with a two-thirds majority: not let the game choose!

MessageFun? Where is the fun in having the game TELL US who is our Emperor when we can decide for ourselves!

MessageAlso, the HoS has no actual powers in the game. It is just a figurehead position in terms of games mechanics.
