Submitted by[?]: Leftist Unitist Coalition
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: February 4148
Description[?]:
If we allow certain companies to monopolize and control the patent to technology that should be available for all companies to utilize, then that both slows down our technological advancement speed, as well as leads to horizontal monopolies. In this modern age, we cannot allow selfishness to slow down our countries development. All technological innovations should be free knowledge to all companies who produce technology, lest we fall behind our rivals. I know many of you will see this as an act of regulation and an overstep of government authority, but i can assure you that nothing will be publicized, and all companies will be entitled to their profits from this, this law will simply allow technology to be produced faster and more efficiently. |

Message | The issue with legislation like this is that it will, in reality, hinder development of technologies. While this bill is well intentioned, I'm sure, the fact is that it ignores the reality of how the industry works. Profit is the main incentive for companies and individuals to use their talents to create new technologies. By severely limiting the profits that can be made you're making innovation less attractive. |
