Message | Dear CWA speaker, Sadly the SLP opposes every proposal in this Agenda. We believe that, if treated well, animals are key for the advance of science and medicine, and for the happiness of the general people. Furthermore, unless the CWA wants us all to become vegetarian, outlawing killing animals is nonsense for us. Please explain in case these are the intentions of your party. Robin Thorne, SLP Speaker |

Message | The CWA are hardcore environmentalists. Animal life is part of our environment. It is not acceptable to experiment on animals just to test a medication or make-up. It is not acceptable to cull animals just because you think they might be nice with chips. We are not saying that anyone should be vegetarian. We are saying they shouldn't kill and eat animals. |

Message | Personally I can't see how can somebody not be a vegetarian if eating meat or fish is outlawed. As far as I know, there is still no way to get meat or fish without killing the animal. So, implicitly, you are saying that everybody must be vegetarian if this bill passes. About another proposal: a dog, cat or almost any pet is way happier in a home with a constant supply of food, shelter and company than in the wild. In biology, synergy is the partnership between two species from which both benefit, and petting is a clear case. We cannot consider your party environmentalist if you outlaw synergic partnerships. Or will ants and sow bugs be allowed to partner, but not humans and dogs? Robin Thorne, SLP Speaker |

Message | The question of vegetarianism is irrelevant to this platform. If the SLP can work out a way to avoid vegetarianism without killing animals and using them as a food source, we have no problem with that. Regarding the issue of domestic animals. Asserting that dogs and cats are happy is not evidence that dogs or cats are happy. Perhaps more to the point, what we would think of as 'happy' is an entirely irrelevant state for an animal. |
