Bill: Military Support Bill

Details

Submitted by[?]: Patriotic Party of Baltusia

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: December 4160

Description[?]:

Members of Congress,

Given the recent terror attack on board a train, claiming several lives and believed to have been carried out by a cult, ( ooc - see report on national bulletin board) we wish to help in enhancing security.

I propose that having the military support the police force during this time of heightened security will help to project a suitable presence in public areas and will deter further attacks. I hope this practical assistance will be of use.

MessageMr Holyday,

As inferred in my opening statement, this is a temporary measure. Once the terror threat has been eliminated the law will be repealed. This is an effective deterrent. It has been used to see off terror organisations before - please look at the way in which RABA was dealt with some decades ago.

Coincidently, the party that turned out to be the political wing of RABA decried the bill as being a militaristic law in Congress.

We don't think it is the military role.
We believe it should be done by the police. Which bring me to a question, do we have a police force ?

MessageGoodness me, did I hear that right. The PLCA just asked if we have police force? And they get annoyed if we call them incompetent?!

MessageMr Speaker.

It is quite sad, that the president, take everything at first degre, without trying to understand what did I mean, by asking if Baltusia has police force, I know very well that Baltusia has a police force, that was not question, but it seem that the president just cannot understand, so, I'll be direct.
Does this mean, our police is incapable of handling crime ?
I also add, that the description of the incident by the terrorist is not correct. The term seem to be used recently to describ any attacks we do not like, but when the same attack are used by group who fight our ennemy, those group become freedom fighters. We agree that crime was committed and would prefer to use normal terminology

MessageMr Evil.

We have a fine police force and to call their professionalism into question - sarcastically or otherwise - is below the belt.
The situation here is different. When facing a terror alert it is common practice to have more of a visible presence to help deter further acts and reassure the public. Consequently, the government has drafted in the military to provide this cover. Other options would have been to provide police with military grade weapons (as per the law) and give them extra powers to search and detain. I hope we do not have to escalate to this situation but the options are there.

I also see from the reports we have received from BAITI that a link has been made between the terrorists and membership of the PLCA. Would you care to use this opportunity to explain what the situation is?

MessageMr Fish, the BAITI, should do their work again. they decided to search for culprit before having any info on how Mark Wall was killed and even accused people to drink his blood. They made link with the Vampire Clan and the murder, but the Vampire Clan is simply an anti-religious group who once seeked to be recognized by our alliance as a member party, but we refused, because we have already the RTC and have no place for atheism supremacy in our party. The report of the coroner have show that Mark Wall was killed by stragulation, probably an other doctor because of trace of chlorhexidine on the blood, which is used to prevent contamination of blood.

There is little chance for the Vampire clan to be guilty, no many of these person have medical experience of even know to take blood sample, most of them don't even know what chlorhexidine is for, so I don't think we could have killed Mark Wall and drain his blood. And the "blood" they produce is in fact Elderberries Wine. If Mr. Fish want, I can contact them and have them send over samples.

I wish to remain Mr Fish, that we have no reason to adopt this law, we had two incident and 8 murders, To say our police need the "help" of the military to solve theses crimes, is saying they are not competent.

I also announced that I have personnaly hire detectives to shred light on vampire case, if others parties want to help us, please. One of them told me he is going to question the personnal of Castella General Hospital

MessageThank you Mr Evil. I think you have protested your party's innocence enough. As a former home secretary I find it difficult to believe that BAITI would not have taken account of the pathology report or the cause of death issued by the coroner as part of their investigation - and ask the current home secretary to clarify the position.

I understand your concern over this law proposal - there is no more peaceful a party in Baltusia that mine - but my understanding is the military will not be drafted in to solve the crime just to heighten security presence at key locations and hotspots... like outside government buildings, airports, train stations etc. It will give the public peace of mind.
