Message | While we are a liberal party and believe in the freedom to love who you want to love, we cannot support this bill. We assume the PSP wants to legalize all polygamous marriages. Polygyny, polyandry, group-marriage between multiple males and females and homosexual plural marriage. In a polygyny or polyandry marriage there is one man or woman with multiple spouses of the other gender. This brings the one man or one woman in a position in which they can abuse their power. Polygyny is also a lot more common than polyandry which causes a risk that there will be an increased number of low-status unmarried men. It will create reduced gender equality and decreased social stability. Polygamy causes jealousy, some spouses can feel neglected or spouses could become more submissive out of fear of being replaced. It creates a very confusing situation for children, a polygamous system can easily be abused for religious reasons. The list goes on and on. We cannot and should not legalize polygamy in a modern society. Personal freedom is not the only value we should strive to maximize. There may be a greater social good served by keeping polygamy illegal. |

Message | There are 3,5 months left till February 4162. We hope the honourable gentlemen of the PSP and PNT change their vote before it is too late. Your anarchistic ways will doom us all. DOOM, I tell ya. |

Message | If the honourable members of the Adunarea would recall, the PNŢ earlier presented a bill under which we would recognise foreign marriages regardless of whether they were in accordance with our domestic laws. That measure was defeated. There are 24 nations in Terra that officially recognise polygamous marriages as legal and equal to monogamous ones. Several more permit such marriages in certain localities. If foreign diplomats or businessmen come to our shores with one or more of their wives from polygamous marriages, they are not recognised as a married couple. This is an insult to our honoured guests and causes all manner of legal problems. From that standpoint, this law represents a substantial resolution of this difficulty. The vast majority of our citizens will not engage in multiple marriage because it is not traditional here, and our moral institutions can remain the guardians of monogamous fidelity even without the force of secular law. Message | It's ridiculous that my ''coalition partner'' speaks such foul words against us. Calling us anarchists will not improve the relationship between our parties. Your concerns are deeply exaggerated, as if thousands of people will use this right. It simply improves the rights of a small group of people who want to love eachother. So far for your ''progressive'' values of your party. As for the danger of religious abuse. Discriminating men and women is still prohibited, that also counts for the religious community of our nation. Not even to mention that it already happens, religious men are already having multiple wives at home, only the government doesn't know about it. With this law, we can even catch those misusers because they want to register their marriage. Your arguments are thereby invalid and coalition partner unworthy. Message | I forgot to mention that the PSP will remember the support of the PNT and deeply appreciates it. |

Message | What makes you think misusers will suddenly decide to register their marriage? Religious abuse of this bill is also one of the many arguments provided. I don't see any arguments regarding the great many other concerns CLIP has. Passing such horrendous bills and throwing all the arguments of your coalition partner in the trash, by simply refering to them as invalid is coalition partner unworthy. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank the NEPP for their vote against this bill. It is appreciate and will be remembered. Message | The concerns that CLIP adresses are only legitimate if thousands of people marry multiple persons. That is simply not the case, it's just as ridiculous as if you say homosexuality causes decreased stability. It were the conservative parties that said the same thing! It's a shame to see that CLIP and NEPP are on the wrong side of history! Because polygamy will be legal! Mekana Akiki President of the Confedaration |

Message | You mistake me, madam president. I am not saying homosexuality causes decreased social stability, polygamy does! Why, you ask? I refer to the previous arguments provided. Don't try to compare homosexuality to polygamy. In a homosexual relationship the spouse isn't at risk of becoming submissive or feeling neglected. Polygamy on the other hand is a different case entirely. |
