Bill: Fair Trade Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: Shuggoth Progressive Party
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This bill proposes the withdrawal from a treaty. It will require half of the legislature to vote in favor[?]. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: July 2183
Description[?]:
This bill would withdraw us from these two treaties. These treaties *force* us to be protectionist in trade. They *force* us to set quotas, and engage in tit-for-tat tariff. These treaties are bad for business! |
Proposals

Withdraw from the Treaty of Calpicosa.
Article 2
Withdraw from the International Responsible Trade Treaty.

Message | The Treaty of Calpicosa is a bilateral treaty giving us free trade with Beluzia and was negotiated by my predecessor, the Bishop of Laloquon. |

Message | Those treaties don't seem so bad to us. Can you be ore sepcific about their disadvantages? We don't interpret them as forcing Luthori to engage in tit-for-tat tariff, but only allowing us to do so. If we are wrong, please correct us, because God refused to talk to us today and explain us international trade agreements... |

Message | CP: Try to make a new bill. Select the foreign trade topic, International Trade (This is a default in the absense of a specific free trade agreement or specific trade embargo) Attempt to choose any option other than the current one. You can't! These treaties force us to impose reciprocal tariffs on other nations, *even if we don't want to*. We can sign a new bilateral trade treaty with Beluzia that is more open ended, and I would urge our Foreign Minister to create such a treaty. (Specifically, it should allow for these options: The nation does not impose any tariffs or quotas on imports The nation imposes reciprocal tariffs on imports, with no tariffs imposed on states which impose no tariffs on our exports. The nation allows for imports, but imposes tariffs and quotas in certain areas) |

Message | You are right. This is an outrage. Free-trade is the will of God. You have our support on this all the way (not that it matters, because we don't have any seats) |

Message | Reciprocal tarrifs create incentive for other nations to lower their tarrifs. |

Random fact: Moderation will not accept Cultural Protocol updates which introduce, on a significant scale, cultures which are likely to be insufficiently accessible to players. In particular, for all significant cultures in Particracy, it should be easy for players to access and use online resources to assist with language translation and the generation of character names. Moderation reserves the right to amend Cultural Protocols which are deemed to have introduced significant cultures that are not sufficiently accessible and which are not being actively role-played with. |
