MessageBaltusian Star: Pro-Choice protests in the capital
Today a massive pro-choice protest took place in the capital there is believed to have been just under 500,000 people, leading the campaign was women's rights campaigner Jane Portray, widower and campaigner Michael Sarde and RAC interim leader and feminist Sophie Balotti, Mr Sarde spoke to us during the protest saying "I was disgusted that the PLCA and CPOB voted against the bill to loosen abortion laws my wife was not allowed to have an abortion a few years ago and when our child was born badly disabled and died a few weeks later my wife had a mental breakdown and sadly passed away, I was heartbroken and if we had been allowed to have an abortion my wife would be alive today". Jane Portray also talked to us about the danger with banning abortions, "you see if you ban abortions except for medical emergencies then many women especially single mothers can't cope especially if they already have children, for example they don't have time for pregnancy because they need to work if they don't then they lose their jobs and become homeless, many will turn to backstreet abortions which could result in death, there is also the problem with mental health of the mother and of the child will die soon after birth in pain, i think it's selfish that these politicians think that they control young womens lives, but on that note the patriotic party has gone up in my expectations
None of the pro life parties or the government have responded and many are sceptical of the power of protest to influence the government while others support the PLCA and CPOBs actions

Message**Against-the-odds Presidential victory - is due to electorate's lack of trust in PLCA party, says Fisk.**

By Baltusian Times Reporter Conrad Alexander

Patriotic Party Leader Xander Fisk has hailed Leila Williams' victory in the 4165 Presidential election and says radical left wing elements in the opposition faction paved the way to the stunning win.

It is the sixth presidential success on the trot for the Right Alliance despite their chances seeming slimmer than in previous years in the run up to voting.

Nevertheless, Fisk says the triumph is down to a number of reasons - hard work, determination, a clear political message... and the voters mistrust of the PLCA.

He told the Baltusian Times: "First and foremost we must congratulate President Williams for her stunning victory. We weren't given much of a chance by the pollsters but we knew if we kept doing what we do best people would stick with us.

"Baltusians want a free market, not to be overburdened by regulation in all aspects of life and the peace of mind of a strong military and police force to defend their rights.

"The Left Bloc have never had a better opportunity to win and they blew it. Why? Because people don't like the idea of having hard left groups like the PLCA anywhere need the centre of power. Sure they will pick up Congressional votes in their heartland states but they just haven't got the appeal beyond there to pull off a national victory.

"The vast majority of people have a lack of trust in the PCLA and they know whichever department they received in a government cabinet proposal it would be in shambles within weeks and then we would have to spend billions repairing everything. I mean, can you imagine them in charge of the defence department?"

Despite election success Fisk now faces a tough battle for leadership of the Patriotic Party. Hardline social conservative Darius Darvos is set to challenge him with a result expected by the end of the year (4165).

MessageThe Baltusian Observer: anti-Government protest takes place in the capital

Today anti government protests took place in the capital, the protests were against the arrest and trial of Alexandra Jennings, the increasing of police powers
And the reversing of nationalisation of Baltusia. The protests were peaceful but tensions grew in many parts of the capital but luckily no violence broke out,

Across the Country a number of large strikes took place with estimates between 300000 and 500000 strikers mainly in companies which had been re-privatised. Our journalists interviewed a number of protesters to try and get their views a few people refused to talk to us but many agreed, one protester who wished to remain neutral told us that ever since the company that he had worked in had been nationalised they had been happier and better payed, another protester Mrs Lydia Greelin who counts herself as a liberal told us that as a floating voter she had recently voted republican but was disgusted by their recent attitudes to freedom and would now be voting for a left party, the mood here is grim as many protesters have lost their jobs and many others their wills, Professer Michael Browner of the institute of political studies in Llajta told us that the recent arrest of Alexandra Jennings has scared many in the country who now believe that free speech is threatened. Here are some surveys taken at the protests

A TEAM of negotiators from the League of Nations have been called in to mediate in the ongoing war between Katy Kerry and Taylor Twist, which is in danger of inflicting another decade of needless agony upon millions of innocent people around Terra.

The bloodless feud, now in its fourth year, was sparked when the two multi-millionaire singers and one-time best friends fell out over some first world problem or another.

The ensuing conflict brought with it thousands of articles, blogs, tweets and ‘special reports’, with the media spending more time covering this war than any other in human history.

As such, war specialists have made the claim that the conflict is in direct contravention of the Geneva Convention, with millions of innocent civilians bearing the brunt of the actions of the two megalomaniacs, which could lead to sanctions against both Kerry and Twist, as well as possible war crimes charges if the feud does not end soon.

“Every day, millions of people get this nonsense shoved into their newsfeeds,” said a spokesperson for the League.

“This is torture unlike anything we’ve ever seen. We cannot stand back and allow a generation to be poisoned by this crap. Just look at my Twitter feed; it’s all stories about how Katy is ‘ready to forgive Taylor’… do I look like I give a crap? I work for the God damn LoN”.

Meanwhile, fears grow that both parties may be about to record more songs about the feud, which could lead to another disaster on the scale of “Bad Blood”.

LOCAL NEWS

STAFF at the Bal-Met Office have successfully activated a clause in their contracts which will see them net a bumper bonus, thanks in no small part to this week’s heat wave.

With temperatures hitting the 30s this past month, staff at the weather procurement agency hit one of their main temperature targets, helping themselves to a big payday.

“We don’t do it for the money, we do it just to see the happy look on people’s faces,” confirmed Bal-Met Office employee, Richard Hoover, who is just one of 40 members of staff who will receive a five figure bonus.

The pay out has come after a number of staff led negotiations with several idyllic island paradises across Terra, and despite some ups and downs, they returned to Baltusia last Friday with the good weather.

“Some years it can be incredibly tough to get a bit of Sun imported into Baltusia, other countries outbid us, but we were all on the ball this year,” added Hoover, now fanning himself with 50 notes to keep himself cool.

Under the reinstated bonus system staff are also fined 10 quid every time a Baltusian man walks around with his top off even though it’s only 10 degrees out.

POLITICS

TODAY Baltusia goes to the polls. In what many describe as the tightest election of a generation (with surveys putting the incumbent government at a slight lead over rivals), will the BDGP/PPB alliance hold firm, or have the 'Left-Bloc' done enough to pip the govt at the last?

Of course, one thing that is for sure is that this election day will be noted for its prominent policing operation: with recent law changes placing heavily armed police on duty at sights of national interest, many assume the polling stations will fall under this remit.

Stay tuned for our #GE28 coverage
