Message | Alright. So any business can freely discriminate based on race or sex if they feel so inclined? |

Message | Yes. As in 'free to determine own hiring policy'. |

Message | Well, this is talking about -positive- discrimination. Some difference with negative discrimination. I think one can interpret this as not meaning that one would deny people based on race/sex/etc, but one would give preference to people based on certain attributes, consistent with the need for the job. Still, I don't know if that what's meant, and positive discrimination can result in negative, if one only takes those preferable. Where does one draw the line, and is this alright? I can see the advantages and disadvantages, but what what point of view is this article meant for? What weighs heavier, the advantage or the disadvantage? |

That is for the employer to decide and I believe that it is not the task of the government to find that out, there is a 'freedom of speech' in this nation and there are not laws on racism or anything like that, if an employer decides to 'discriminate' a certain race/sex/etc. he has the right to do this as his establishment is his private property, on the other hand the employer has to realize the consequences of actions like this. |
