Bill: Number of Seats in Tukarali Legislative Assembly
Details
Submitted by[?]: Partido Tukaralii
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This bill asks for an amendement to the Constitution. It will require two-thirds of the legislature to vote in favor. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: December 4175
Description[?]:
Tukarali has one of the fewest numbers of legislative assembly seats among developed nations. A modest increase from 175 to 200 seats in the legislative assembly would not only allow Tukarali to tend towards the mean, but also allow for easier calculation and comparison of seats held, changed and percentages in future election cycles. |

Message | "Why should there be 25 more seats? The UDT is open to arguments why the number of seats should be increased, but under no circumstances will agree to an even number, as only an odd number like we currently have avoids political stalemates in the National Assembly." Liana Simões, leader of the UDT parliamentary party and Chancellor of the Democratic Republic |

Message | There is nothing wrong with Stalemates. While highly unlikely they provide the opportunity for more reflection and debate. If you don't agree, you can vote against the measure and the debate can continue with a new proposal. |

Message | Stalemates can occur at any number of seats in Legislature through abstanations or non-participation. Should the number of seats be an even number, all votes cast and, against all odds, the yes and no votes be equal - then a bill does not pass as it requires a simple majority; or, if allowed by law, a tie-breaking vote can be cast by a head of state. |
